Donyi Polo Vidya Bhawan Senior Secondary School, Itanagar
Campus view of Donyi Polo Vidya Bhawan

Founded on 14th November 1981 under the noble umbrella of the Donyi Polo Mission, Donyi Polo Vidya Bhawan is more than just a school, it is a vision turned into reality. The dream belonged to Shri Gegong Apang, the 3rd Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh, who firmly believed that every Arunachalee child deserves access to world-class education within the state itself. With just three students and one teacher, this humble journey began in a serene corner of Itanagar, guided by his principle that an institute must be far from noise, close to nature, and secular in character. Today, after 43 glorious years, the school stands tall on a vast 50-acre lush green campus, proudly affiliated to CBSE, New Delhi (Affiliation No. 223007), and recognized by the Government of Arunachal Pradesh (EED/A/28/2022-23). Catering from Class I to XII, it is the only school in Arunachal Pradesh that holds membership in the prestigious Indian Public Schools’ Conference (IPSC).
Here, education goes beyond classrooms. The school blends academic excellence with discipline, leadership, culture, and values, nurturing not just students, but future-ready citizens and leaders. Generations of young minds have walked through its gates, carrying with them the strength of knowledge, confidence, and character.

In 2025, a new era of transformation began with the dynamic leadership of Mrs. Alison Welly; an accomplished educationist and entrepreneur. With her modern vision, global outlook, and innovative learning tools, she is steering Donyi Polo Vidya Bhawan towards international recognition, while staying true to its founding mission.

Today, Donyi Polo Vidya Bhawan is not just a school; it is a legacy of dreams, discipline, and destiny.

Built on Belief, Growing Since 1981

Three students. One teacher. That was it. That is where Donyi Polo Vidya Bhawan started back in November 1981.

Gegong Apang had a simple but strong idea: children in Arunachal Pradesh could not be compelled to leave the state in search of good education.
